    5-6 pounds of either pork shoulder or butt.


    1-1/2 tbsp kosher salt
    4 tbsp of liquid smoke
    1/2 cup of root beer soda

    4 unpeeled bananas (not eaten)


Mix together kosher salt, liquid smoke root beer soda.

Place the pork in a bowl and pierce (poke, stab) it all over with a fork or knife. Then pour the mix over the pork and make sure to rub it in well. Let it marinade for 1-2 hour.

Put two whole unpeeled bananas at the bottom of the crock pot. Place the marinated pork on top and place 2 more whole bananas on top, pour in what’s left of the marinade.

Cook on low for 16-18 hours, in a crockpot.

When cooked carefully remove the pork from the pot, take out the bananas (throw them away, unless you like cooked bananas). If any, remove some of the fat that is still on the pork and start pulling the meat apart (Shred). There should still be some juices left in the pot. That’s good stuff! Don’t throw it away. After you are finished shredding the meat toss it back into the pot and mix it with the juices and set the pot on warm.
