Traditional Ham and Beans Traditional Ham and Beans

Ingredients

    32 ounces Hurst's dry beans

    8 ounces Cumberland Gap ham cubes, large pieces cut up

    3 tablespoons instant chopped onions

    1/8 teaspoon pepper

    Dash salt

    2 cups chicken broth

    Water (enough to cover beans)

Directions

Wash dry beans under cold water to remove any debris before using (instruction on bag of beans).

After washing beans, add water, chicken broth, ham cubes, onion, and seasonings in large pot. Cover, bring to boil, then simmer 2 or 3 hours or until tender and liquid is well thickened.

Makes approximately 13 1-cup servings

Serving suggestion - pour mixture over 1 serving of Quick Corn Bread (another recipe of mine).
