Ingredients
-
Base Layer:
1.25 cups flour
1 cup sugar
0.5 cup plus 2 tsp butter
Caramel Layer:
1 Tbsp Corn Syrup
0.5 cup brown sugar, not packed
0.5 cup butter
5 ounces Sweetened Condensed Milk
Top Layer:
1.5 cups Chocolate Chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350.
Place base layer ingredients into a bowl, and cut with a pastry cutter or two knives until coarse in texture. Place into an ungreased 9X9 square cake pan, and pat down gently until fairly level. Bake for 20 minutes while making Caramel Layer.
Place all Caramel layer ingredients into a non-stick fry pan, and gently heat to boiling. Boil for five minutes while stirring constantly (will burn easily). Remove from heat and continue to stir briskly until thickened. Pour over base layer.
Chocolate top:
Melt chocolate chips in same non-stick frypan and pour over caramel layer.
Let sit for awhile before cutting to cool and also to set layers.
Cut into 25 pieces, with each piece being just under 200 calories. As noted in the introduction, these are just a treat, and not a daily staple!
