A great substitute for canned cream soups
Add mushrooms for cream of mushroom soup, peas for cream of peas or even spinach. I like it just as it is or add vegetables or meat as you llike.

Ingredients

    equivalent to 8 cans: ***** equivalent to 1 can

    2 Cups nonfat dry milk ***** 1/4c nonfat dry milk
    3/4 Cup cornstarch ***** 1 1/2 T cornstarch
    2 Tbl dried onion ****** 3/4 t dry onion
    1/2 tsp black pepper ****** dash pepper
    1 tsp dried basil ********* 1/8 t basil
    1 tsp dried thyme ********* 1/8 t thyme

    8-9C KITCHEN BASICS BRAND ***1 - 1 1/4 C Kitchen Basic
    Unsalted chicken broth ****** Brand UNSALTED
    ******************************** chicken broth

Directions

To reconstitute::

For the equivalent to ***ONE*** can...
stove top combine 1/3 cup of the dry mix with 1 cup of the chicken broth. stir til desired thickness.

Microwave combine 1/3 mix with 1 cup broth in glass bowl or measuring cup. Heat on high 4 - 5 minutes til desired thickness stirring several times

Makes 8 servings

    Incredible!
    I've used this for years! I also use it as a substitute in various recipes that call for a roux by either increasing or decreasing the amount of fluid used in the sauce mix...it works great. Thanks for posting! - 10/30/09
