Introduction

Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    2 Med. onions
    1 1/2 cumin
    1tsp. black mustard seeds
    1/2 tsp. olive oil
    2 tsp ginger, minced
    2tsp. garlic
    2 med sweet potatoes
    8 c. water
    3c dried yellow split peas
    1-2 Tbs curry
    1 bunch fresh kale

Directions

Saute onions for 5 min. Pour cumin and mustard seeds to bottom of pot and add oil. Heat until seeds pop. Add garlic, ginger and curry. Cook 1 minutes. Add sweet potatoes, water, split peas. Cook one hour. Wash kale and remove tough central rib. Add to pot for last ten minutes.

    This soup was great! I always saute my onions in water or vegetable broth instead of oil.. This tasted really good, and was delicious on a chilly, rainy day. - 10/21/09
