Ingredients
-
50 small wonton wrappers
1 pound extra lean ground beef
2 eggs worth of egg substitute
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 cup panko crumbs
2 cups organic chicken broth (I use Private Selection) - lower sodium broth reduces sodium significantly if sodium is one of your concerns.
6-8 cups of water
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
Sodium is not one of my concerns, so I also add some Teryaki sauce to the meat mix. However, this increases sodium more than some like.
Directions
Mix panko crumbs, egg substitute, extra lean ground beef, and spices. Using about 1 teaspoon per wonton wrapper stuff the wrappers as follows:
Use a brush to wet down the wrapper. Place stuffing in the center of the wrapper. Seal the edges.
Place filled wontons on a tray. Continue until all wontons are filled.
Bring water and broth to a rolling boil. Drop in wontons one at a time. Bring back to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook for 15 minutes. In the last 2 or 3 minutes of cooking, add the green onions.
Makes 10 servings of 5 wontons and 3/4 cups of broth.
