Introduction

This is another of the dishes I make when my husband is away. I usually half it, but it freezes well, too. This is another of the dishes I make when my husband is away. I usually half it, but it freezes well, too.

this has become my winter staple. the only thing i change is adding a pint of home-canned chicken stock in place of a pint of water. - 1/26/13

    Incredible!
easy and excellent recipe! I tend to over-veggie (as if there could be such a thing) and put a chopped peeled potato in as well. Used chicken stock instead of water; added some liquid smoke and Maggi's seasoning to bring out a smokey flavor (my grandmother used a ham hock). - 10/10/12

    Very Good
I made this exactly as directed and it was very good. My daughter selected this for dinner and she liked it as well. There was much left over and will be frozen for future dinners! Thanks for the recipe. - 12/7/11
