Ingredients
-
3 pounds Raw Potatoes, eyes removed, scrubbed, sliced thinly
3 cloves garlic
2 cups Kraft Finely Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1 1/2 Milk, nonfat
1/2 Water
3 tablespoons Potato Starch
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
1 teaspoon Onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
Directions
Boil potatoes and garlic cloves in large pot of water for 8 minutes. (I put garlic in mesh bag so I can easily remove it later). Potatoes should be mostly cooked, but not totally soft.
Drain and remove garlic. Can mash garlic and add to the cheese sauce or can dispose of garlic.
Pour drained potatoes into a 9x13 casserole pan that has been greased (I use a spray of Pam).
While waiting for water and potatoes to boil, prepare sauce as follows:
Heat milk over medium high heat. Stir constantly. Add cheese to hot milk. Stir until melted. Mix starch, spices and 1/2 cup of water. Stir into milk and cheese mixture. Cook until bubbly.
Pour over the potatoes in the casserole pan. Stir so coated. Bake in preheated oven at 400 for 20 minutes, until browned and bubbling.
Serve 3 columns of 4 rows (12 servings).
