Ingredients

    200g bacon
    1 onion
    2 celery stalks
    4 carrots
    1/2 turnip
    1 parsnip
    1 litre water
    3 bay leaves

Directions

cook bacon and allow fat to come out
add onions and celery to soften
add chopped carrots, turnip, potatoes and parsnipcook for about 5 mins
add 1 cup red lentils
add 1 litre water and simmer for about 30 minsuntil lentils have softened
serves 4
