Number of Servings: 10


    1 c. whole wheat flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 T. unsweetened cocoa
    1 T. baking powder
    0.5 tsp salt
    1/2 c. milk
    2 T canola oil
    1 tsp vanilla
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1/4 c unsweetened cocoa
    1 1/2 c boiling water


Mix flour, white sugar, baking powder, salt and 2 T. cocoa in ungreased 8 x 8 cake pan or small casserole. Mix milk, oil, vanilla and add to dry ingredients; dough will be thick. Spread evenly in pan. Sprinkle brown sugar and 1/4 c. cocoa over top of dough. Pour boiling water over all and place in oven; 350 degrees for 40 min or until toothpick comes clean from cakey part.
To serve, spoon sauce and cake into serving dishes. Great topped with whipped topping or ice cream.
