Ingredients

    lentils-1 cup
    potatos-3
    carrots-3 cups sliced
    lime juice-1 tbsp

    sambar powder
    make ahead=slightly roast and grind
    1 tbsp of fennel seed
    1 tbsp of chlli powder
    1 tbsp of coriander seeds
    Also have 1 tsp of mustard seedsand 2 cups of tomatoes-diced
    1 cup sliced jalapeno chilli
    2cups finely chopped onion

Directions

Cut the poatoes and carrots,wash and add the cut onion and jalapeno chilli.boil with the lentils in a large vessel.(Wash and clean the lentils before this)Cook on medium for 1/2 hr or if in pressure cooker-till the first whistle and then turn of the heat.In a sauce pan pop the mustard seed and a few of the fennel seed.If possible add a few curry leaves(optional) .once ready-add to the lentils and then add the lime juice.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
