Introduction

Yummy!! Yummy!!
Number of Servings: 7

Ingredients

    1lb. 96% extra-lean ground beef
1C. yellow onion, sliced thin (4 oz.)
    8oz. button mushrooms, sliced
    1C. 1% Milk
    2C. low-fat, low-sodium beef broth
    1/3C. all-purpose flour
    1tsp. worcestershire sauce
    1tsp. kosher salt
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    9oz. wide egg noodles
    1tbsp. unsalted butter

Directions

In a large dutch oven, brown the ground beef with the onion, stirring to break up the beef. When the meat is cooked, stir in the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, until the mushrooms begin to release their liquid. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, broth, and flour, then stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Add the liquid to the pan and allow to come to a simmer and thicken, 15-20 minutes.

While the stroganoff simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noddles according to the package directions. Drain well and toss with the butter.

Serving: 3/4 cup egg noodles and 3/4 cup stroganoff.

I liked this. I listened to the other raters and added some more spices. Added some garlic powder and "fine herbs" and an extra dash of worstershire. I didn't have sour cream but I did add about a 1/4 cup of heavy cream at the end to add richness. Omitted the butter at the end. - 11/19/10

I liked this. I used a packet of beefy onion soup mix with 2 cups of water instead of beef broth. I also added 8 oz baby bella sliced mushrooms and 1/4 cup of sour cream instead of butter. Will be making this again! - 3/28/19

Very good, almost like the packet! I did add a couple more spices that I had on hand, and some chives from the fridge. I also added some greek yogart at the end to mimic the sour cream that the original packet instructs you to add. We had it over unbuttered yolk-free egg noodles. Very good! - 1/22/12

Wow! I've found a recipe that will work for my son's allergy needs and my diet. This is a keeper. My little one is lactose intolerant so I can use lactose free milk in the ingredients and it tasted wonderful. It's not the same as my reg. recipe, but it's a keeper for my healthy lifestyle change! - 9/26/11

Tasty & fairly easy. Substituted the cup of milk with a can of cream of mushroom soup but that was the only variation from the recipe. Made enough for dinner & lunch-leftovers. - 6/10/11

Excellent home made recipe. Can't believe i can make this from scratch at home and keep it healthy. We changed the all purpose flour to whole wheat and added more spices once all was ready as it was a little bland. I recommend more salt and taragon... Delicious! - 4/18/11

My husband typically complains about any "healthy" recipe I make being too bland. I noticed a huge difference with this and other recipes I've made trying to be healthier. So delicious! I will definitely make this again. Husband agrees! - 3/3/11

Very good! I added a bit of ff sour cream & a tossed salad with balsamic vinegar/evo. This & 8 oz of red wine made this a guilt free, quick & inexpensive treat! Thanks :) - 1/18/11

    Bad
this was the most awful sparkrecipe I have ever tried. I have never given a recipe a dab review but this was tasteless and bland (I added the sour cream after my first bite to try to add flavor) I LOVE stroganoff but I wont try this one again:(

I make something like this, but I leave the flour out, the mushrooms, worcestershire sauce, and don't use this much salt. I ,sometimes, use cut-up lean beef roast, for the meat. Delicious. - 3/9/09

This one really appeals to me, just at first reading. One thing, tho --- I can't think of a stroganoff without sour cream, so I would replace some of the milk - using FF sour cream. - 1/31/09

Made this last night. I used wheat egg noodles. Didn't have any mushrooms, so I used a can of mushroom soup also added about 2 tbls of fat free sour cream. It was very good. Hubby liked it too. Good enough to have again. Makes enough for left overs. - 1/5/09
