This is a good basic recipe. I like to add other things to spice it up and give it more of a healthy punch. I saute up about 1/2 c. each of onion, celery and carrots in a bit of butter. Then I add 1 tbsp of cumin. I blend it & add another can of beans to give it a few chunks. Serve w/ sour cream. - 2/2/11

Loved it! I made it with dry black beans, and it took 30 minutes to cook them in pressure cooker (I used about 1.5 cups dry beans + 4 cups water + 1 chicken bouillon cube). After the beans were cooked, I added some chili pepper paste, the salsa and 2 cloves of garlic, then puréed in Cuisinart. YUM! - 9/1/10

GOOD & EASY, but used diced tomatoes, my own seasonings, included 3 caramelized sweet (walla-walla type) onions+2 cloves garlic, tho much less salsa; great way to use up salsa bits, and *great* that it's a pantry recipe. Here's mine: https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-det
