Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken or turkey
    2 tsp garlic
    2 tsp ginger
    4 tbls soy sauce
    1 1/2-2 c. cooked rice
16 romaine or bibb lettuce leaves
    1 c. green onions
1 c. green or red pepper
    1 c. bean sprouts
    1 c. zucchini

    Dipping Sauce:
    1/3 c. soy sauce
    1/3 c. water
    1 tbls lemon juice
    3 tsp minced garlic
3 tsp ginger ( a little more if taste isn't strong enough)
    1 tsp. sugar

Directions

Cook ground meat with green onions. Once meat is almost done add in the rest of the veggies, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger . When meat is completely done add rice and stir until well mixed.

Add all the ingredients for sauce and put in small saucers so everyone gets one.

Then just wrap meat mixture in lettuce leaves and dip in the sauce. Can be messy but soooo yummy. Nutrition info is with ground chicken, even healthier with ground turkey.

This is AWESOME! I replace the sprouts and zucchini with Mushrooms just to fit family preferences, and we usually don't use the dipping sauce...they are pretty flavorful without the extra sauce. This has definitely become a family favorite! I get requests for it almost every week! - 10/13/08

This is amazing! My whole family loved it and it tastes just like the one's I used to get in Toronto at Spring Roll restaurant! :) I didn't make the sauce, but I used some lower sodium honey garlic sauce instead of the soy sauce. makes it a bit healthier :) Oh and no rice... - 4/30/10

I'm going to try these tonight for dinner - can't wait!

OK - it is now a few hours later and I LOVE this recipe! I used low sodium soy sauce and added some celery but other than that, followed the recipe. I will be passing this recipe on to friends and family!

We loved this. I also substituted brown rice and used the low salt soy sauce. It still had plenty of flavor. I also ate my leftovers with tortillas. It wasn't as messy as the lettuce. I will make it again. - 7/30/08

I do not find this recipe to be healthy. High in sodium, calories and potassium. Wish there were some healthy asian recipes. - 3/16/09

Maybe I'm missing something...This just wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It mainly tasted like a lot of soy sauce. I like soy sauce, but in moderation. I didn't eat the sauce that went with it. In my opinion, the sauce was just awful. - 2/17/09

Yummo! This was really great. It is messy but worth it! Great way to get some extra veggies in. I grated the zucchini and i don't think my son even knew it was in there. - 11/9/08

Yum! Would not let me give it 4 stars for some reason. I do use low sodium soy sauce if I can find it. And other Asian sauces can be found low sodium. - 9/10/18

This is delicious, so flavorful! Be warned that it is a total mess to eat! I usually end up drizzling the dipping sauce on the inside to help cut the mess down a little! - 9/25/16

I hate to disagree with all the high ratings, but this was just okay. The main dish lacked flavor on its own and the sauce was too watery. With the sauce this was messier than any other lettuce wraps I've made. I recommend adding all the garlic and ginger to the stir fry and not making the sauce. - 5/16/11

The filling was great. It was so, so messy though. I think I will try buying the spring roll wrappers and skip the rice and try stuffing and steaming them like an spring roll. Great flavor. Or perhaps just serve on a bed of lettuce? - 3/28/11

I made this pretty much excactly like the recipe, very good but very messy for sure. The dipping sauce was way too overwhelming for me. Too much soy sauce! - 1/24/11

I made some modifications with the amount of rice and used shredded carrot in place of the sprouts for a little added sweetness. Overall, this was pretty good and quick, will make again for sure! - 3/25/09
