Instead of boiling the carrots/sweet potatoes I baked them at 350 until tender. This made the mashing part super easy. Yummy recipe! - 3/4/09

This dish is wonderful and it's not smothered in tons of butter to make it better. Sweet potatoes are so moist on their own you don't need the butter or the calories. My husband and I love it and it goes with chicken, steak, ham, and pork. - 2/24/09

Terrific recipe! There was none left when I prepared it for our last church dinner. I used an electric mixer to fully combine the mashed sweet potatoes and carrots. I added a pinch of cinnamon and, also, I toasted chopped pecans in maple syrup to top the dish. I'll prepare this again - 12/18/09

Next time I will use canned carrots, even though thinly sliced they didn't cook up soft enough to mash in with the sweet potato. - 1/4/08

Tasted great! Next time I would use Yams instead of Sweet Potatoes. The sweet potatoes were kind of white in color and made a funny color mix when mashed with the carrots. The yams would be closer in color with the carrots. Everyone thought it was delicious! - 3/24/08

I won't drain the carrots/sweet potatoes in a colander. I don't want to pour good vitamins down the drain. After eight minutes I'll take the lid off and keep stirring the food so that it doesn't stick and burn until the water boils off. - 12/28/18

To be honest, I'd probably like these better without the maple syrup. Sweet potatoes are VERY sweet on their own, and I never understood why people want to make them sweeter still. However, this sounds A LOT tastier than "candied" sweet potatoes that are smothered in brown shgar and marshmallows. - 9/26/18
