I made this today with my kids and they LOVED it...I had the worse chocolate craving and it did the trick. I added 2 more TBSP of cocoa to the recipe to make it a little more chocolatey and put a small amount of low fat cream cheese/ cocoa icing on top..very good..Thanks!! - 3/9/08

It was OK, but not great. I've found better chocolate-fix options on here. Agree that it just feels like it lacks in taste. - 2/14/09

Not much flavor like it was missing something. My hubby didn't like it, but the kids did. I put some powdered sugar on top and it made it a little better. I think I would try adding in some mashed bananas with the apples. I used applecider vinegar since it didn't specify. - 2/26/08

I am always skeptical of low-fat chocolate cake, especially one without eggs - but it was great! I used Cool Whip Lite for a topping - no one even knew it was healthy. - 1/24/08

I was skeptical about this cake, but made it as a trial... I thought it was wonderful as did the boyfriend who is anti "diet" food... I used a betty crocker frosting which added alot of calories, but it was still under my daily allowance for dessert! Will make again!!! - 2/11/08

I will not make again. I was skeptical and should have known better, dessert is suppose to be a treat and I will just have to remember that and eat regular desserts and just eat smaller portions. - 2/7/08

I would rather make a more traditional (less healthy) version and eat a smaller piece. This didn't taste like dessert to me. - 1/31/08

Sooo good! Really fixed my brother and I's chocolate cake craving! I think next time I may add some spices though...I think a little cinnamon would make this extra tasty! - 1/29/08

Very Good, more like a pound cake and stays so moist. Will try adding nuts or dried cranberries or maybe some coconut. - 1/28/08

I thought it was great, as did my co-workers. I think I may try to substitute bananas instead of applesauce next time. Great chocolate fix!! - 1/24/08

This was amazing! My kids are sugar intolerant so I used Splenda instead and it still came out great. I then used sugar free chocolate pudding as the frosting and was able to use it as a birthday cake! Definitely a keeper!!! - 3/4/12

I cut the sugar to 1/2 cup and added a pinch of salt and made cupcakes. The cupcakes were very moist. A good vegan recipe. - 2/9/12

Will try this!! Andmaybe add some mashed banana instead of part of the applesauce. Maybe add raisins or walnuts, almond extract, the vinegar could be applecider vinegar. and maybe serve chilled? 081101 - 11/1/08
