These are like the cabbage rolls I make, EXCEPT I use Ground Turkey, add Sauerkraut (Drained and Squeezed to remove water), add a can of Stewed No salt added Tomatoes and use BROWN rice. Mix the turkey, rice, sauerkraut, tomatoes and 2 egg whites, salt, pepper and fill cabbage leaves. Bake 350/45min - 2/18/09

I too like turkey rolls. 400 gms = 14 oz. or 500 gm=17.6 oz. My food scale doesn't have grams. Once I know the amounts in gm or oz I can figure out aprox cups which vary some with the content of ingredient- water and ect. - 11/20/08

dont let the look of the sauce fool you, you may want to try fat free sour cream with a bit of herbs de province in it or just some salt& red pepper flakes, absolutly devine, an d the idea with the sausage is great too if you are looking for more flavour - 2/12/09

What a good idea to use grated carrot with the rice. !When I make cabbage rolls I always trim the center thick part of each leaf. Sometimes before removing the leaves from the head I make a deep x in the core then put head in freezer for an hout , trim the center rib before removing each leaf - 8/20/09

To reduce calories and keep flavor, I have used turkey sausage (and deer sausage made with deer and turkey) add sage, fennel and a pich of tumeric to get the same flavor. This basic recipe can be flavored anyway you might wish. - 12/26/09

A favorite at weddings . I freeze the cabbage to make it flexible instead of cutting around core and putting in boiling water. Also, I take the core along with tomato sauce and drained sauerkraut and place across bottom of roaster. Use no sour cream but DO add brown sugar to tomato sauce. - 8/20/09

I like this specially the sour cream coz it blends just enough. By the way for LDYRED53: Mince simply means to cut or chop into very small pieces or any way you want it to suit your taste. - 11/27/08

My grandmother was german and always made this every family gathering. She would put the cabbage in the freezer and then let it sit out to thaw which makes rolling easier. Also she just used can tomato soup for the sauce--no seasoning needed. - 8/20/09

My family has made a very similar dish for several generations. I use the following variations:
use about equal amounts (visually) of ground meat & cooked rice
cook in pot with 1 inch water
add 1/2 tsp paprika, 1 egg, a few cloves of garlic
sauce: mostly tomato, dollop of sour cream
