I loved this recipe! I havn't cooked Pinto Beans in 20 years! I didn't know my husband would like them. I took the advice of some of the other cooks and spiced it up a bit with extra garlic, greek seasoning, cummin, chilli powder. It was spicy but I'll tweek it more the next time. - 11/1/09

I thought this was delicious served plain on a warm flour tortilla. I added a little garlic. I am taking the dip and recipe to my school's "Spark" meeting tomorrow. - 2/3/09

I thought this was good. Very very very easy to make, which was a plus. I thought it was a little bland though. After reading the last comment I added pepper flakes, garlic powder, cumin, and salt, and still found it to be somewhat bland.
    Husband liked it though!!

Based on other reviews saying it was bland, I made mine with medium salsa and I added garlic and a light sprinkling of taco seasoning. It was zesty and good. - 12/4/09

I made this, but I added pinto bean seasoning and bacon for flavor. When it was done, I topped it with cheese and sour cream. This recipe was awesome, and I will definitely make it again. - 7/29/07

The entire family really enjoyed this. Very simple, but satisfying. I think I'll add a bit more spices to it next time thought, or use a really good quality fresh salsa. The jarred stuff left it a little on the boring side. - 4/25/07

i have made something similar, but adding a can of Ro-Tel tomatoes ( pick your favorite flavor) and a little Mexican seasoning. So good!!!! Wrap it in a low carb tortilla with a little cheddar cheese - heaven on earth! - 2/17/11

Didn't try the original recipe. After reading some comments I did my own "take". I added a chopped chicken breast and a packet of taco seasoning. That combo was a bit salty for me, but adding the chicken was a real PLUS. Will continue to experiment and come up with perfect pintos. THANKS! - 2/10/11

Good stuff, next time add some seasoning b/c it is bland for my families taste. Great on tortillas and tortilla chips or just as a snack.

Also for those how need to know bag size, most dried bean bags come in 16 oz.

Help! I don't know what sized bag of pinto beans to use. I bought my pinto beans at Sam's club in the enormous size, and now I am not sure how many to use for this recipe. Looking forward to trying it once I figure this out.

This was the easiest, tastiest recipe ever. I added no meat & my meat and potato loving husband claimed that he did not even miss the meat. I did add a little smoke seasoning, but little else & I just cooked at a simmer on top of the range, adding water as needed. Yum O!! - 1/31/10

I made this with just a little extra garlic. Pretty good. I liked having it around to just spread on corn tortillas for a protein boost before I worked out! - 6/29/09
