Just FYI....The calories on this are most likely even a bit lower. The calculations on the soup I believe are incorrect. If .5 C is the serving and there are 2.5 servings per can that would only be 1.25 Cups for an entire can. Therefore, lower the calories a tad bit. Every calorie counts!!! :-) - 1/18/09

I added a little basil and oregano, very tasty. I don't think that I could have gotten 10 servings out of a half pound of chicken, though. - 12/28/08

Tasty! I made a few modifications: 1 pound of chicken (or so), less water, added thyme, oregeno, & white pepper. ( spices strengthen as they cook!) I also shredded chicken PRIOR to adding the biscuits. I cooked on low for 10-12 hours to keep biscuits from browning; on high they were dark/chewy. - 3/12/09

I made this tonight, we all thought it was very good, needs more chicken though, dont think 1/2 pound is enough, and it was too runny, I will definately make this again, but add more chicken next time, and maybe some cornstarch to thicken it up? Im not sure what else to do about that. Great recipe! - 11/30/08

Oh. My. Goodness. Yeah, it's that good. And disappointingly, no leftovers...... (We had last-minute company) Will be making this again and again! Incidentally, we added 1.5 lbs chicken breasts and used buttermilk biscuits. Oh, and we left the biscuits on top in order to brown. - 11/12/08

I love broccoli so I added half a bag of frozen. The tube of biscuits I was looking at said it had 200 calories per biscuit, I looked at a tube of breadsticks which said 140 calories so I used that instead. An added benifet was I didn't have to slice them. It was really yummy!!! - 3/10/08

I was disappointed in how this recipe turned out. The garlic absolutely ruined it. It was extremely overpowering . My DH took a bite and then threw the rest of it away. Normally we love garlic, too. The biscuits made great dumplings though! I gave this 3 stars and will try again w/o the garlic. - 11/24/08

AWESOME! I used the bread sticks on top as some other's suggested. Also added 1/2 bag of frozen broccoli. Absolutely a keeper, so easy and so very good! - 11/10/08

I love chicken and dumplings. This was a little different than the norm with the mixed veggies but I liked it anyway. Very easy to make! Even better as left overs. - 3/1/08

Can you give a minus rating - this was the worst!!! I would not recommend this recipe at all - a total waste of 9 hours and money spent on ingredients on something my husband and I could not even attempt to eat!!! I would not suggest wasting your time!!! - 4/26/20

Very good and easy. I have been making something almost exactly like this for a while, however I must have added the calories wrong, mine came out much higher. This is perfect when you are craving a nice home cooked meal. - 6/10/14

If you don't have any baking mix, combine 1-1/2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon snipped chives in a small bowl. Melt 6 tablespoons butter and mix with 1/2 cup milk; add to flour mixture and stir just until combined.

Drop dumplings by tablespoons onto ho

I liked it. I used low sodium soups to lower the salt I added miss dash to it too.I would make it again but would add more chicken and vegetables. My mom liked it too which she usually don't like new things. - 11/3/13

Good but not great. i double the recipe and it was a disaster for the dumplings. i had to take them off the top and cook them in the oven. then when i ate this the next day as left overs the taste seemed to have changed. I will make again but next time i will make 1 batch and bake the biscuits. - 8/27/13

I have not even dropped the dumplings in, but so far it is my favorite chicken and dumplings recipe. I put in some leg quarters along with the bonesless breast so I could get some flavor from the darker meat and the bones. I cooked it for 8 hours last night and it smeels delicious, and so easy! - 9/30/12

Very good! I made some adjustments based on others' comments. I used a little over a pound of chicken, and just one can of water, and I still had to thicken it up a little bit with some flour because it was pretty runny. I sweat the onions and garlic before I threw them in the crock pot, too. - 3/16/12

    Needs a few tweaks.
I used one pound of chicken instead of a half pound. I used 12 oz of water, but probably could have made do with 10 oz. 12 oz veg.
I added thyme, rosemary, and oregano as suggested. Mine cooked 10 hours and I made biscuits separately in the oven. Spoon chicken on top of bisc

Just a little tip, this recipe is not meant for a small crock pot.I I suspected as much, but I wanted to try it anyway. I just put it in mine, and it barely fit. I have no idea how I am going to get the dumplings in. I did use extra chicken as suggested by others so that might be part of the problem - 1/3/11

Ridiculously easy to make. I threw in a bunch of extra frozen vegetables. I tried putting in frozen broccoli, but I didn't really like that. Broccoli reheats kind of funny. The green bean/carrot/pea/corn mix goes really well. - 11/13/10

VERY YUMMY! No onion, so I used onion powder. I also added Mrs. Dash Italian Medley, but not quite enough. Biscuits made great dumplings, but I made some a little too big, as they all didn't get fullly done. This was a delicious meal that we will be eating again. **EDIT: Even better the next day! - 8/18/10

This was so very good. My husband and I really enjoyed the flavor. Instead of using the canned cream of chicken I substituted three cream of chicken instant soups. The flavor was great and it allowed my to get the consistency just a little thicker. Wonderful recipe. Thank you for posting it. - 5/11/10

I made this and found it to be very filling and tasty. I was worried about putting uncooked biscuits in a crock pot, but they turned out nicely. I cut them into small pieces and stirred them up to make a doughier texture. I will defintiely make this one again! - 9/22/08
