Introduction
This is basically a pizza dough recipe but with some major, yummy additions and substitutions! You can decrease the amount of white flour by adding more whole wheat or other whole grain flours to equal about 4 1/2 cps total. Ingredients
-
2 tsp yeast
3/4 cp warm water
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbl olive or corn oil
1/4 cp sugar or honey
3/4 cp warm milk
1 tbsp wheat germ
1/2 cp parmesan cheese
2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp onion powder
1 cp whole wheat (or other whole grain) flour
3 1/2 cp white flour
Directions
-Dissolve yeast in the warm water. You may add a tsp of sugar to help it rise faster.
-Mix next 4 ingredients, add to yeast mixture.
-Mix next 5 ingredients plus 2 cups of the white flour to the above. Mix well then add remaining white flour. Knead for 5-10 minutes until it has a smooth consistency, adding flour if necessary.
-Place in greased bowl, let rise until double.
-Form into small rolls, place in greased muffin tins or bread pans. Let rise until double.
-(If you're in a hurry, bypass the first rising and put the rolls into the pans to rise!)
-Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
-Makes 20-24 rolls.
