The nutritional information listed here is wildly incorrect, since the "lentil" entry used is actually for cooked, not dried, lentils (Spark issue: they don't specify in database). Corrected information here: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-deta

I wish Spark People would list the sugar content in the nutritional info. Sugar is a HUGE culprit against the battle of weight loss and many health issues. - 2/27/13

So glad I saw the notes to halve the ingredients, even at half it filled my crockpot to the brim!

That being said, this was delicious! I used tomatoes with green chiles to give it a little kick. This is definitely going into regular rotation, thank you!

I will make this again, my husband really liked it. I thought it was a little sweet. It was too much for my crock pot and I think I have a very large pot. I think next time I will only use one can of tomatoes and another onion and cloves of garlic. It does make a large batch and good for leftovers. - 3/5/09

Cooked it on top of stove instead of crock pot. Worked great. Made mine with green beans and low sodium tomato sauce. Cut the recipe in half. We loved it and will make it again. Thank you. - 1/28/17

I like it and my oldest son likes it. We add a bit of tumeric and more garlic powder. I usually add an egg, egg drop soup style to up my calorie count making it a full meal. But even then it comes under.

    It's VERY filling.

This was delicious. I made it on the stove and it only took about 2 hours. I added the cabbage the last 15 minutes because we like the texture to be a bit firmer. - 3/6/13

Very tasty! Wish I'd read the comments about there being too much for most slow cookers! It was more like a stew since there wasn't room to add all the liquid. I'd make a half recipe next time! - 8/23/11

    O.K.
This would have been too much for my 6 quart crock, so I halved it. It did smell delicious, unfortunately it didnt taste delicious. DH ended up eating a PB&J =( - 8/9/11

1st time around, I added only herbs, bay leaf, a little basil. I used a 6 qt crock pot and it fit fine. Thought it was very good. I add 1 teaspoon olive oil per serving, when I serve it. I have added at various times, broccoli or cauliflower or zucchini or yellow crookneck squash, any or all.1-1/2c. - 7/21/11

I really enjoyed this. I too have a small cooker so I halved the recipe. I also added a mix of dried spices and mushrooms. It was tasty, nutritious and very filling. - 11/22/09

I would like to ask what size slow cooker this recipe is designed for because it sure didn't fit into mine. The recipe was okay but it was hard to convince my family that it would be yummy! Thanks for the recipe! - 3/21/09

This was way too much food for my average sized crockpot. Next time, I'll cut the recipe in half-otherwise it was tasty. - 2/26/09

Connie: Sounds wonderful. Very impressive nutritional breakdown. Are the canned tomatoes 14.5 oz each, and are the 2 cups lentils dried lentils? Thanks! - 2/1/09

    Reply from CONNIE48036 (2/2/09)
Hi Carrie. The tomatoes are the large cans, I think 28 oz each, and the lentils are the dried type found in a bag near the navy beans and kidney beans in the grocery store. Glad it looks good to you. Let me know how it turns out. Have a great week!
