Introduction

A super quick, cheap and simple meal to make that feeds 4 to 5.

If your vegetarian, omit the meat and double the frozen vegetables.

You can use any meat: chicken, pork or beef. However, in the photo, I've used pork.

Ingredients

    1 250g (8.8oz) packet of Vermicelli
    100ml Dark Soy Sauce
3 cups of frozen stir-fry or mixed vegetables
    (I use stir-fry frozen veges)
1 heaped teaspoon of crushed garlic
    2 tbsp cooking oil
    Boiling water

Directions

Before you start getting all the ingredients together, fill your electric jug and turn it on THEN we start!

Dice the pork into small bite size pieces and have the oil heating in a large pan or wok while your dicing.

Once you've finished dicing, the jug should be boiled. Empty the vermicelli into a bowl big enough for it to lay in. Cut the cotton off and discard. Cover vermicelli with just enough boiling water and leave to soften.

Cook the pork and when its about a minute away from being cooked, add the garlic.

Drain the vermicelli and add to the meat. Then add the soy sauce and frozen vegetables.

Cook covered for a couple of minutes then mix to combine.

Serve.

Excellent recipe!! I used pork steak(with the fat removed). I used spaghetti because that's what I had. I also used minced garlic and stir-fry pepper vegetables. My husband and I both thought it was one of the best recipes we have tried so far. - 6/13/09

Depending on the brand, vermicilli packed in bunches. Each bunch is tied with a strand of cotton.

An electric jug is simply a pot you plug in to heat water. :-) You might want to check the nutrition info. The chef accidentally added in the vermicelli TWICE into the calorie count and didn't add the meat or soy sauce at all--which totally changes the sodium count! - 2/24/09

Thanks PAMMYTHAI for clearing up the jug question .... Im VERY new to the recipe board and got a bit lost when I was posting the recipe. You'll have to forgive my ignorance here. I also forgot to mention that you can get a low sodium soya sauce if you dont want to use the standard brand. Thanks :)
