Ingredients
-
4qts. Water
1 - 16oz. box Elbow Macaroni
1 - 14.5oz. can Diced Tomatoes
1 - 28oz. can Crushed Tomatoes
1 stick Blue Bonnet Spread
2 TBSP. Salt
1 TBSP. Black Pepper
Directions
Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil in a 5 quart pot then add 2 tablespoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of black pepper and 1 box (16oz) of Elbow Macaroni. Cook according to the time on the box of macaroni or to desired tenderness. I cooked mine approximately 15 minutes. Next, drain off most of the water but not all. Leave enough water to cover the bottom of the pot. Then add 1 stick of Blue Bonnet, 1 large 28oz. can of crushed tomatoes, and 1 regular 14.5oz. can of diced tomatoes. Continue to heat on the stove until all ingredients are warm then serve.
This recipe will make 16 cups.
Bonus tips:
* Adding browned hamburger to this recipe is delicious. (Not calculated in nutrition info.)
* Also tastes wonderful topped with cheese. My kids like parmesean or mozzarella the best. (Not calculated in nutrition info.)

Great base for a main dish! I added 1 lb of cooked ground turkey (93/7), only 1 T of salt to the boiling water, and no salt added diced tomatoes. I thought it needed some spices (garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, oregano), which took it up a notch. Yummy! - 4/25/09

Your ideas are great additions. I love to play around with most of my recipes and enjoy seeing what others add or take away in order to change it up. Thanks for the tips!

this was wonderful even my husband liked it. I think next time I will cut back on the black pepper but all in all was very delicious. - 4/11/09

I am so glad your family enjoyed this recipe. It is a favorite of my husband also. He loves to cover things in black pepper so I forget that other people my not like it as much. Hope the change works for you.

ahhh...noodles and tomatoes! Sure brings back memories of my childhood. My grandma used to make these, but added a bit of sugar to it....haven't tried this recipes but it looks JUST like hers that I make to this day.....Can't wait to try this one - 4/4/09

My grandmother is the person who taught me to make this. She adds sugar to hers also, but I cut it out to reduce the calories. I enjoy it just as well without the sugar but please make it to suit you and your family.
