Ingredients

    3 eggs
    1 C butter
    2 C sugar
    4 C flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    2 tsp vanilla

Start with eggs and butter at room temp. mix egg & butter until well combined. add sugar. add in flour a little at a time until well incorporated. Batter will be very stiff. Then add baking soda and vanilla. Roll out to 3/8" - 1/4" thick and cut with cookie cutters or for an old fashion looking cookie, cut with knife in squares. Bake at 350 for 8 - 10 minutes. I prefer a baking stone for even baking and no dark spots or dryed out places.

Directions

I make my cookies about 2" X 21/2" and get 70 to 75 cookies.

This is a great recipe my Grandmother use to make them, but she would roll dough out to about an 1/8 of an inch thick and cook til right before they started to tur4n brown. Then she would make chocolate cream cheese icing to put between two of them. Kinda like making a sandwich cookie. - 12/14/11
