Introduction

Quick soft and chewy breadsticks. Goes great with soups! Quick soft and chewy breadsticks. Goes great with soups!
Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    1 Tbsp yeast
    1 Tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 1/2 c water
    4 to 4 1/2 c flour
    2 Tbsp butter,melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl dissolve yeast and sugar in water. In a large bowl, mix together 4 cups flour and salt. Make a hole in the center and add yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir together forming a stiff ball. Add extra flour up to 1/2 cup if dough is sticky. Divide dough into fourths. Making 6 sticks out of each piece. Form the bread stick by rolling between fingers and dry counter. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.

These bread sticks do not need to raise. They will raise some as they bake so allow at least an inch between sticks on the baking sheet. I do not grease my pan, and I have not had them stick to it either. Makes 24 bread sticks.

    Sure sounds easy. Working on them now!
    These rival some that take much more time. These will be on my menu. I even left the salt out for DH who is sodium restricted. To some of them I sprayed nonstick spray and sprinkled parmesean while they were hot.
