Introduction
This is a staple in our household from an old Betty Crocker cookbook. It's pretty easy to make & you make two loaves. We have one for dinner & freeze the other for another time.You can save calories by using lean ground beef and cutting out the cheese. Ingredients

1 egg
1/2 cup fat-free skim milk
1/3 cup dried bread crumbs
1 pound ground beef or meat loaf mix
2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
1/2 tsp. table salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 oz. american cheese (optional*)
*Nutrition info includes regular american cheese in calculation
Directions
- Mix all ingredients, except for the cheese if you choose to use it, thoroughly.
- Divide meat mixture in half (about 1 1/2 cups each); shape into loaf, 5x4 inches.
- Place both loaves in ungreased loaf pans, 9x5x3 inches, or baking pan, 9x9x2 inches.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes.
- If desired, top one loaf with catsup, chili sauce or strips of cheese and return to oven for 2 to 3 minutes. Serve this loaf immediately. Cool remaining loaf; wrap in aluminum foil and freeze.
