Introduction

Delicious, rich alternative to high-fat alfredo! Delicious, rich alternative to high-fat alfredo!
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    2 c. nonfat milk
    Reduced-fat cream cheese, 1/3 c. (3 oz).
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. butter
    3 cloves garlic
    1 c. grated parmesan cheese

Directions

Toss the milk, cream cheese, flour, and salt into a blender. Process until smooth and set aside. In a non-stick saucepan, melt the butter on medium-high heat and add the garlic. Let cook for about 30 seconds or until garlic begins to brown and the butter starts to get bubbly. Add the milk mixture to the pan Stir constantly for about 3-4 minutes or until it just comes to a simmer. Keep stirring and let it cook a few minutes more. It should be much thicker now.
When it's nice and thickened, remove the pan from the heat. Add the parmesan cheese, stir, and cover immediately. Let stand at least ten minutes before serving. Serve over pasta, as a dip, on pizza, etc.

    Very Good
I have made this twice and both times it was really good. Easy too. - 3/26/18

    Incredible!
Everyone loved this and I couldn't believe how rich and creamy and good it was. Beats anything you'll ever get out of a jar and it's so simple to make. One note: Don't skip the blender step in the beginning! It's critical to the smooth texture. - 8/26/11

    Very Good
I *love* Alfredo sauce, always ordering it when we go out (at least before we started Sparking!). This sauce is a good substitute for the "heart attack on a plate" that I would get at restaurants. I will certainly make this again. - 9/10/10

I have a grandson who really doesn't like red sauce at all but loves Alfredo, and I can't wait to make this for him! - 6/26/10
