Ingredients

    2 cans low sodium chicken broth
    1 small bottle clam juice
    1 6 oz. can tomato paste
    5 cloves garlic minced
    1 tsp. thyme
    1 tsp. fennel seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    2 TBS fresh rosemary
    1 stick salted butter

    1 C beer
    2 pounds shrimp (shell and save shells)
    1 TBS. Worcestershire sauce
    Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Makes 6 large servings.
Mix broth, clam juice, herbs, butter, and tomato paste in a large pot, heat to boiling. Take shrimp shells and heat in a cast iron skillet on high until they turn pink with burnt bits. Simmer for two hours. Add beer, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper, simmer for another hour. Adjust flavoring to taste. Add shrimp 3 minutes prior to serving. Ladle broth and shrimp into bowls. Serve with crusty bread and a green salad.
