Introduction
Using ground turkey instead of beef in my Coney island meat sauce for hot dogs. I figured about 1/4 cup per serving, which totally depends on how you like your meat sauce, it might be enough for 2 dogs. Ingredients
-
1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tsp Chili Powder*
1/4 tsp cumin*
pinch cayanne*
pinch paprika*
dash oregano
11 oz (small can) tomato sauce
2/3 cup water
* indicates spices you can add more or less of depending on your taste and how spicy you like things. I am pretty much a wimp, so this is minimums. Playing with these spices doesnt really effect the nutritional information.
Directions
Brown Ground beef
add remaining ingredients, mix well
bring to a boil
reduce heat and cover,
simmer about 45 minutes.
It is usually only me here, so once it is cool. I often bag in freezer bags about 1 cup per bag, which is enough for me to have 4 hot dogs. I then freeze it flat, then stand it up like bookends. I have frozen them up to 9 months.
