Introduction

This is adapted from the German recipe. I originally made these for my daughter's book club when we read a WWII book. It reminds me of a cheeseburger in a roll. My kids love them! We dip them in ketchup and mustard. This is adapted from the German recipe. I originally made these for my daughter's book club when we read a WWII book. It reminds me of a cheeseburger in a roll. Ingredients

3 loaves frozen Rhode's bread dough, thawed (or 36 pack of frozen Rhode's rolls, thawed)
    2 pounds 95 % lean hamburger
    1 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
1 cup shredded colby jack or cheddar cheese
2 tbsp dried onion flakes (could use 1/2 cup chopped fresh)

Directions

Brown hamburger with the onions. Drain and set aside. Wipe out pan with a paper towel. Saute cabbage until translucent and add cabbage and cheese to hamburger. Mix. Divide bread dough into 36 pieces roughly. Spread one piece of dough and spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of filling into the middle. Pinch the corners together and place on a greased cookie sheet (corners down). Continue until all of the bierocks are assembled. (My six year old helps spoon the filling for me so enlist help if you can!) Bake at 350 degrees for 16-18 minutes or until golden. Makes 36 servings.
