Ingredients

    *Whole Wheat Flour, 2.0 cup (remove)
    Granulated Sugar, .25 cup (remove)
    Baking Powder, 3 tsp (remove)
    Salt, .5 tsp (remove)
    Butter, unsalted, 6 tbsp (remove)
    *Dried Cherries, .5 cup (remove)
    Almonds, .25 cup, sliced (remove)
    Egg, fresh, 2 medium (remove)
    Whole Milk / Vitamin D, .5 cup (remove)
    *Almond Extract, .5 tsp (remove)

Directions

Ingredients

• 2 c. flour
• ¼ c. sugar
• 1 T. baking powder
• ½ t. salt
• 6 T. cold, unsalted butter, cut into ½-inch pieces
• ½ c. dried cherries
• ¼ c. sliced almonds
• 2 eggs
• ½ c. whole milk
• ½ t. almond extract
• additional sugar for top


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
2. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
3. Cut in the butter with pastry blender, until mix resembles coarse meal.
4. Mix in cherries and almonds.
5. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, milk and almond extract.
6. Stir into flour mix just until moist. If sticky, add a bit more flour.
7. Turn dough out of bowl, make into ball, flatten to 1/2-inch thick.
8. Cut into 8 wedges.
9. Brush with milk, sprinkle sugar on top and then bake 15 min.

Makes 8 Scones.
