Introduction

This is a nice shift from the traditional sweet berries and sugar concoctions you usually have on the holiday table. If you’re using frozen cranberries, don’t thaw them out first. Ingredients

1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries
    ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
    ½ tsp cinnamon
    ¼ tsp cloves
    1 tsp dried thyme
    ¼ tsp curry powder
    ½ cup honey
    1 tbsp brown sugar
¾ cup dry red wine (I recommend M. Chapoutier "Les Vignes de Bila-Haut" Côtes du Roussillon-Villages 2008)

Directions

Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. If needed, add just enough water to cover the berries.
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until half the berries have burst and the mixture is thickened.
