Introduction
I got this 5-star recipe off the Food Network website, but had to tweak it a bit, as I didn't have bell peppers... I also omitted the olive oil and used brown rice vs breadcrumbs. Ingredients
-
1 large onion, diced
2 tsp garlic
2 eggs
3/4 cup minute rice
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 TBS Worcestechire Sauce
1 TBS vinager
2 Tsp basil
1 Tsp parsley
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
1 tsp Oregano
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
1 cup stewed/chopped tomatoes, drained
8 ounces (1/2 pound) ground turkey**
8 ounces (") Ground beef (lean)**
(You can use either one pound of turkey, or beef. I buy 1 pound packages of each, double the ingredients of this recipe and make 2 loaves. I like the taste of beef/turkey better than plain turkey...)
Also, if you use FRESH herbs, it tastes SOO much better. I also added fresh rosemary to mine, and it was out of this world good. :)
Directions
Heat oven to 350.
Mix together all of the wet ingredients. Add the seasonings and rice.
Blend in the meat, well. Put into a loaf dish, and bake at 350 for 45-hour, or until the middle of the loaf temperature is 160.
