Introduction

I saw something like this flipping through a magazine in a check out line. It works like butterscotch haystacks. I saw something like this flipping through a magazine in a check out line. It works like butterscotch haystacks.

Ingredients

    * Apricots, dried, 175 grams (remove)
    * *Kroger Tiny Pretzel Twists, 7.5 oz (remove)
    * Semisweet chocolate, 2 cup chips (6 oz package) (remove)
    * *Hazlenuts, chopped (other nuts are ok- just do the nutrient/calorie math!) 16 oz (remove)

You can substitute other dried fruit, grade of coating(chocolate) , nuts, be sure to add a good crunchy 'hay': pretzels as listed here.; Oriental Noodles come to mind, I am sure there are others. The ingredients need to be able to take and harden with the coating with out dissolving or getting soggy. I make this when the packages are on super sale!

Directions

cut dried apricots in to small dice (i use scissors). Course crush pretzels, add chopped nuts toss and set aside. Microwave chocolate 30 seconds at a time stirring between each session until melted and runny. Using a rubber spatula scrape the chocolate into the apricot mix and toss thoroughly. I use two bullion spoons to portion and shape servings, drop servings onto wax paper to cool. This can take several hours at room temperature, and definitely keep them out of a sunny window or overly warm environment.
