Ingredients
-
1 tsp. Sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. Oil
2 1/4 c. Skim milk
1 c. Whole wheat flour
1 c. Oats
4 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 c. Flour
Directions
Whisk together egg, sugar and oil. Add milk and mix. Set aside. Mix whole wheat flour, oats, baking powder and salt. Add milk mixture to dry ingredients and blend together. Add white flour a little bit at a time to get the right consistency. Batter should be slightly thick. If it's too runny it will spill out of the waffle iron. Pour batter into preheated waffle maker and close. Be careful not to overfill your maker! Waffles are done when steam slows down.
To make the bulk mix ahead of time, just mix together dry ingredients and store in an airtight container. Use 1 cup dry mix and add 1 egg, 1 tbsp. Oil and 1 cup milk. Prepare the same as above!
