Ingredients

    Tamarinds, .5 cup, pulp
    *raddish, 1 serving
    Onions, raw, .5 cup, sliced
    *Asafoetida / Hing powder, 0.5 tsp
    *Cumin seed, .5 tbsp
    *Chilli Powder, 1 tsp (remove)
    *Sambar Powder (spicy curry powder), 1 serving
    Mustard seed, yellow, 1 tbsp
    Olive Oil, 2 tbsp
    *curry leaves = 1 leaf, 1 serving
    *Indian Toor dal (pigeon peas), 8 oz, 0.5 serving
    Parsley, 3 tbsp
    fenugreek seeds, 1 tbsp

Directions

1. fry the onions with oil
2. cook the onions with raddish (sliced) in 2 cups of water
3. after they are cooked, add the tamarind pulp, sambar powder chilli powder, fenugreek and salt to taste
4. boil the mixture for 5-7 minutes
5. add the cooked dal. (it should be cooked in pressure cooker with 2 cups of water for 10 minutes)
6. add chopped coriander
7. in a separate pan, heat oil n fry mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida powder and curry leaf.
8. add this to the main mixture
