A recipe that is a tradition in my husband's family. It is a sweet and sour cabbage. You can control the calories by draining off the majority of the bacon grease before adding the cabbage.The calorie count does not reflect draining off any fat. Ingredients

    10 strips of thick cut bacon
    I bag shredded cabbage and carrots
    1/4 c. minced onion
    3 tsp sugar
    2 to 3 T apple cider vinegar
    Caraway seed (optional)

Directions

Cut the bacon into one inch pieces. Place in large pot and brown until crisp. Remove all but 2 tablespoons bacon fat. Add cabbage and onion and stir to combine. Cover and let the cabbage cook on low for 5 to 7 minutes. Stir. When cabbage is wilted, add vinegar and sugar.You may want to add more or less vinegar/sugar depending on your taste. Some people like to also add a little caraway seed at this time. Stir to combine and season to taste.
