Introduction

Naturally sweetened, high fiber, and delicious! Naturally sweetened, high fiber, and delicious!
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1cup uncooked barley
    2 cups milk
    3 medium apples or 4 small apples, chopped
    1-2 tbsp of honey (depending on how sweet your apples are)
    Pumpkin pie spice
    3 tsp of vanilla
    3 tsp of rum or Amaretto (optional)

Directions

Simmer 1 cup of barley in 3 dry-cups (same cup you used for the barley, it is just has a little less volume than a wet measure)
of water along with the diced apples; cook until the barley absorbs the water
Pour in 2 cups of milk, spices, honey, and dried cherries or raisins
Simmer for 10-20 minutes until thick
Remove from heat, add the vanilla, and or liquor

Serving Size: makes 6 1-cup servings
