Flour, white, 1.5 cup
Salt, .5 tsp
Baking Powder, 2 tsp
Butter, salted, .5 cup
Granulated Sugar, 1 cup
Egg, fresh, 2 large
Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
Milk, 2%, .75 cup
Frosting
Milk, 2%, .25 cup
Butter, salted, .25 cup
Granulated Sugar, 1 cup
Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
Coco Powder, 1tbsp
Directions
1 c. white sugar
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. milk
Stir and boil for 1 full minute; remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cool slightly (sitting in cold water), Add 1 tablespoon cocoa to sugar mixture then beat with a spoon until ready to spread on cake.
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease one 8 inch square baking pan. Line bottom with wax paper or dust lightly with flour.
2.Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
3.Cream the butter and blend in the white sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir until just blended. Pour batter into prepared pan.
4.Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 to 55 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Remove from pan and allow it to cool.
