Introduction

A dense but tender loaf that provides extra nutrition - not really a sandwich bread but more like a compliment to other foods. Can be made in the bread machine or by hand. I make it in a long pan that makes small slices but can be made in a regular loaf pan - will result in higher calories. Ingredients

1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
    1/4 c. wheat germ
    1/4 c. flax seed meal
1/2 c. sprouted wheat flour (or plain whole wheat flour)
    1/2 c. bread flour
    1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons margarine (I used Best Life Buttery Spread)
    1 1/4 c. light vanilla soymilk

Directions

Warm milk to scalding and add margarine to melt.

If using a bread machine, put ingredients into bread machine in order recommended by your machine. I use my machine to mix it but then take it out to raise.

My bread machine calls for wet ingredients first. Combine wet ingredients - honey, milk and margarine - and be sure to add salt with wet ingredients. Then add dry ingredients - flours, wheat germ, flax seed meal, and add the yeast last.

Select the whole wheat or basic bread setting and START!
