    12 cups stock or water
    3 cups yellow split peas
    2 onions, minced
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 bay leaf
    2 t salt
    1 t dried mustard
    5 carrots sliced
    3 potatoes, diced
    4 stalks celery, minced


combine stock,peas,salt,mustard, and bay leaf in lg pot.
bring to boil, simmer 20 min. Prep veggies. Saute in 1 T o.o. Add to peas. Simmer additional 40 min

  • Delicious! I made mine with chicken stock, because that's what I had frozen and being vegetarian wasn't a concern for me, but veg stock would work just as well. The additional veggies in this soup add a lot of character to the basic split pea, I didn't even miss the idea of ham! - 1/4/12
