Ingredients

    2 cups sugar
    4 heaping T. cocoa powder
    2 sticks butter
    1 large can evaporated milk
    1 heaping T cornstarch
    1 tsp. vanilla

Tips

Sometimes, I use 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp almond extract. OR, you could use amaretto to taste.


Directions

Mix the sugar, cocoa and cornstarch. I sift mine to get any lumps out of the cocoa. Combine the dry ingredients in a heavy saucepan; add the butter and evaporated milk. Once the mixture starts bubbling, reduce the heat a tiny bit and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat; add vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Store in fridge--will keep for several weeks.
