    2 cans garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
    2 c. plain bread crumbs
    4 egg whites
    2 T. chopped fresh parsley
    4 t. lemon juice
    2 t. garlic powder
    1 t. ground cumin
    1 t. salt
    1 t. black pepper
    cooking spray


The nutrition info here is for 1 patty. Normally you would eat 3 or 4 patties in a pita, with lettuce and tomato, and sometime plain yogurt.


Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat 2 cookie sheets with cooking spray. Mash all ingredients thoroughly (you can use a food processor, but I prefer the texture when I do it by hand). Form into 1 1/2 inch balls, place on cookie sheets, and flatten to about 1/2 inch. Spray tops with cooking spray. Bake 20 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.
