Introduction

Ingredients

    10 oz. of 93/7 Lean Ground Turkey
    1 Can of black beans OR 1.5 Cups dried beans
    1 Can of red beans OR 1.5 cups dried beans
    1/2 c. of natural brown rice
    1/2 Can of diced tomatoes; low sodium
    1 Jalapeno pepper; diced. (Seeds and membrane extracted if you want to avoid additional heat.)
    1 tsp. Garlic salt OR 1 clove of fresh Garlic
    1 c. raw onion OR 1.5 tsp onion powder
    .5 tsp crushed red pepper
    1.5 tsp ground cumin


Tips

If you would like this to be more of a soup constancy add a little water or low sodium tomato juice.


Directions

*Dice and/or gut your Jalapeno pepper and set to the side.
*If using Onion, dice 1 cup and set to the side.
*Prepare brown rice as directed.
*If using dried beans, cook them as directed prior to prep of dish.

*Place 10 oz. of ground turkey in a medium sized skillet over medium heat setting.
*Add diced pepper and onion(or onion powder) to skillet.
*Cook until ground turkey is browned and onions are clear.
*While Turkey cooks, open canned beans and tomatoes. Combine them in a medium to large pot or slow cooker on a medium heat setting until them begin to boil. Then turn to a low simmer.
*Once turkey and onions are cooked, add them to your beans and tomatoes.
*Once Rice has cooked add it to your pot.
*Let simmer for a good half an hour before serving.
