I grew up in a English family and sheperds/cottage pie was a staple. Over the years I have tried many different versions of the recipe and have come up with my own version. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    500g lean ground beef
    1 medium onion chopped
    2 cloves garlic minced
    2 stalks celery chopped
    2 carrots halved and chopped
    .5 cup frozen peas
    1 can stems and pieces
    fresh ground black pepper to taste ( about 12 peppercorns)
    1 tsp dried thyme
    1 tsp dried rosemary
    2 tsps worcestershire sauce
    1 pk beef oxo powder dissolved in 1 cup boiling water
    4 medium potatos
    .5 cup 2% milk
    2 tsp celeb olive oil marg


Directions

Brown beef, onion and garlic in pan. Add carrots and celery along with spices.
Add oxo powder in water and worchesire sauce, let simmer until reduced down. (meanwhile bringing potatos to boil)

add to casserole dish, top with mashed potatos

bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes

    Wonderful dish (and I like it being called out as Cottage Pie!). My wife used Silk Pure Almond milk (original unsweetened) and very enjoyable. - 7/21/13
