Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    2 cups dried split peas
    8 cups water
    2 chopped onions
    2 ribs celery
    4 chopped carrots
    4 cloves garlic
    4 tbls poultry seasoning

    salt and pepper to taste

    Rinse split peas
    Add to water, bring to boil
    add vegetables
    simmer until soft and mushy
    Add water to meet your desires consistency of thick or thin on a spoon

    You can add any vegetable to you like - cauliflower is lovely in this soup (chopped) and so are some chopped tomatoes, spinach or kale leaves. Get creative and enjoy!

    Many folks crumble bacon on the top, or even cooked ground turkey or beef with fat drained off.

Tips

add salt and pepper to taste


Directions

chop all vegetables into small pieces
add to water and rinsed peas
bring to boil then simmer for 50 + minutes or until peas are mushy
