Ingredients

    1 venison steak per person, cut into medallions
    1Tablespoon olive oil
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    1/2 c. minced red onion
    1/4 c. port wine
    1/2 c. mixed berries (raspberries/blackberries)

Tips

Venison is available frozen from Whole Foods and is a lean beef alternative.


Directions

Salt and pepper steaks. Heat olive oil. Add steaks. Cook for 2 minutes on one side. Turn when browned. Cook for 1 more minute. Remove steaks and cover. Lower heat and add garlic and onion. Cook for one to two minutes, but do not let garlic brown. Add wine. Stir up brown bits. Mash half of the berries and add mashed and whole berries. Stir to warm through. Return steaks to skillet. Serve steaks topped with berry/port wine sauce.
