Introduction

Basic Fried rice - makes 2 servings Basic Fried rice - makes 2 servings
Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    1 cup leftover brown rice
1 medium carrot, peeled and chopped
    1 slice red onion, chopped
    2 green onions, chopped
    2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
    1 tbsp canola oil
1 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
    2 tbsp chopped green pepper
1 egg, beaten with small pinch salt

Tips

Always use leftover rice, it fries up better. Reduce oil and soy sauce as needed. Add red pepper flakes as desired.

Directions

Add oil to small fry pan, heat up. Add in the green pepper, red onion, and carrot and saute for a minute. Crumble in the rice (leftover and refrigerated rice separates better than freshly cooked) and saute for a minute or 2. Put in the soy sauce and stir until combined. Make a hollow in the middle of the rice and pour in beaten egg mixture and let sit for a minute. Stir eggs so they are mostly cooked. Toss in green onions and sesame seeds until the egg bits take on a dry appearance.
