Ingredients

    smoked sausage
    black beans
    onion
    celery
    garlic
    thyme
    oregano
    beef broth cube
    16 oz. tomato sauce
    water

Tips

Some may choose to add green peppers. You could also serve it over rice, but we enjoyed it without the rice as a soup.


Directions

1. Brown or grill smoked sausage.
2. Dice onions and celery into bite-size pieces.
3. Drain black beans.
4. Mix all ingredients in slow-cooker EXCEPT gumbo file.
5. Cover and cook on Low for 6 hours or High for 4 hours.
6. The last 30 minutes, switch to low. Sprinkle file over mixture to thicken.
