Introduction

This is a wonderful make-ahead breakfast food. This is a wonderful make-ahead breakfast food.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 Cup Steel Cut Oats
    4 cups filtered water
4 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
    1 cup fresh blueberries
    1/2 cup chopped pecans
4 scoops Unipro's Perfect Protein, Vanilla (Available through your Metagenics Rep)

Tips

Other fresh fruit is also a great topper. The dates make this slightly sweet, so you may not need to add sweeter. Good choices if you do are organic maple syrup, agave nectar, or stevia. The protein added makes this a stand-alone meal for breakfast. Use as a side item with eggs or other lean protein if you are leaving the protein out.

Directions

Stir the oats, water, and dates in a medium size slow cooker and set on low. Cook for 8 hours, more or less to taste. Be careful with newer cookers, as they are usually hotter, even on low setting. Stir in 2 scoops of microlyzed whey protein and pecans or other nuts. Top with fresh blueberries or chopped coconut flakes.
